Hi guys... I'm trying to get my older EzDV module working with my Flex 6700.  I've had the module for a while, but only recently changed the Flex so it was 'on the network' rather than direct connected.

So, I've upgraded the firmware from 1.0.4 to 1.1.0.  I believe that's the latest.

When I start EzDV, I can see it's wireless network and connect to it on my PC.  I can get to the ezDV set up screens.
On the Network tab, I can see my home network and add in the password.  I hit SAVE, then power down and restart the ezDV module as directed.
I reconnect to the ezDV network and go into the setup and select the Radio tab.  Here, I select 'Use Network for Radio TX/RX and select 'Flex 6000/8000 series' for Radio Type.  However, my Flex radio does not show up under the Radio box, nor do I see the IP address.

So, of course, there's no connection between the ezDV box and my radio.  What am I doing wrong?  I know the radio is on the network, as I connect to it via Smartlink on my PC and my laptop.
Help!

Thanks

Hi Don

I think you manually have to type in the IP address of the radio when you configure the EzDV.

Don, the unfortunate part, is that even when you get it working, it doesn’t support the new RADEv1 mode that everyone is using these days.

But as for your direct issue there, you should be able to test a couple things, to ensure the network side it valid.

Ie.. from your PC there, can you ping the ip address of the EzDV device, and well as your Flex radio directly?  Just to see if your able to touch them at the network level.

Hi Don,

By "reconnecting to the ezDV network", do you mean your home Wi-Fi network? If you're connecting back to the "ezDV xxxx" network again after reboot, then something didn't save correctly during network setup.

Thanks,

ok, thanks guys.
@Mike Walker -- sorry, not that 'net saavy' -- how do I find the IP address of my Flex?
@Walter Holmes -- as above, willing to learn, but how do I 'ping' the ezDV device from my PC?
@Mooneer -- yes, you're right, I was reconnecting to the ezDV network after the reboot.  Otherwise, I couldn't seem to get to the device when connected to my home Wifi network.  So yes, I guess something went wrong with the network setup.

Hi Don

Settings/Radio Setup/Network

Once you do this, the FreeDV will connect to the radio.  (that is my number, so don't use it).  Yours will be different.

Hi Don,

If you go to the network settings on your ezDV, you should see a green box that appears above the settings once you push Save. This indicates that the settings were actually saved. You can then reboot it and it should appear on your Wi-Fi network. (You may need to go into your router's settings to find its IP address at that point.) Once that happens, you can go to the IP your router gave it and continue setup, where it *should* then be able to see your radio without needing to manually enter its IP address. Let me know if you're still having issues and we can troubleshoot further.

Thanks,

-Mooneer K6AQ
