seeking FreeDV speaker for tonight at 9:00pm ET zoom net (yes, in a jam!)

hello!  My digital play group meets Monday nights at 9:00pm ET on zoom and 7073Mhz.  The zoom allows us to help others with digital mode questions, and have fun fooling around. We have guest presenters from time to time. We also camp on 7.073mhz during the zoom.

I had a guest speaker lined up tonight, but due to a family emergency, he is out. And I am in a jam.

Would anyone here who knows FreeDV be able to join us on zoom for 20-30 minutes to give us an informal overview, answer questions, and offer tips for beginners? We are fun, friendly and curious to learn new things. 

Pleaseeeeeeeee....oh smart FreeDV folks, will someone help us in our moment of (schedule) need??

If you have an idea of where I could go to ask for a presenter, I'll take that, no problem!!  haha.

I would be happy to help you out on that. Having used FreeDV since it’s inception, and even the previous versions prior to that, I’m a daily user and heavy supporter for those trying to get things set up.

 

Just let me know what the details are Zoom room.

 

If you want to have a chat on Zoom prior to that as well, to cover any expectations or key areas you want to ensure get covered, just let me know

yup. no problem. Just tell me what works for you.

The weekly monday night flow starting at 9:00pm ET : 

1) zoom introductions of any new folks

2) I normally launch a stream of digital messages using a sequence of TxIDs for other to try and decode and follow. That works about half the time. hahah.

3) Then I introduce the guest speaker (you!) and you take over the screen share and off you go. Plan on 20-30 minutes, with questions afterwards. We are informal.

4) We try to wrap up at 10.

Most of us will likely not yet have FreeDV installed. I've sent them the link, and I suggested they  install FreeDV  before the meeting, and a few may actually do that (haha) but most just want to learn what this is all about.

If anyone in the group has a functioning FreeDV, you can try for QSO, and we will love watching the process. 

In general, you are helping a group of TOTAL freeDV newbees. 

Expect anywhere from 5 to 15 folks, if lucky!

And do not forget that all users should upgrade to new version from mooneer... He worked on the text transmission and a better report (more reliable decode) to psk reporter...

But that newer version is incompatible with the old text transmissions.. So upgrading us a "must do".. Sooner or later...
