When I go into Easy Setup I change Radio Device to USB Audio Device(which is my Yaesu FT-710) do a test and PTT and everything seems to work.  I hit Apply and go to the main screen and hit the PTT button and doesn't work correctly.  I go back to Easy Setup and it has switched to High Definition Audio Device(My Speakers) so it doesn't save.  The only other option I have under Radio Device is: Volt 476 which is my Audio Interface for my microphone.

Everything was working fine, then had some computer issues and had to reload Windows 11 Pro and re-load my programs again.  I upgraded to the new version of  FreeDV 2.1.0.  Wondering if I should go back to  2.0.2.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Mark,

Do the audio devices look like they've changed if you go to Tools->Audio Config after setting them up in the Easy Setup dialog (prior to trying to TX in the main window)?

Thanks,

Thanks for the help.

No nothing has changed.  I have tried a number of things as far as audio but I don't think that's the issue.  I do a lot of sound work and my microphones, processors, etc. all work fine on other programs including right into my Hermes Lite(which I'm not using for FreeDV) I'm using a Yaesu FT-710.  Again the issue seems to be when I go to the Easy Setup Page and I change the Radio Device to USB Audio Device, Hit Apply and OK, then come back to that page it has switched back to High Definition Audio Device.  Everything receives audio fine, the CAT Control works fine and does what it's supposed to.  I have reloaded the drivers for the Yaesu FT-710 and I have also reinstalled and tried version 2.0.2 which was working great but same thing happens.  I am running FreeDV as an administrator.

Any help or comments from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark

I have also had major problems with speakers and mic in general doing strange things.  I found one solution using Linux Mint laptop (thinkpad) and it was to turn off the computer audio system and use external usb speaker and mic.
In windows have noticed some strangeness, for example, control panel looking at sound settings and noting that there are two send devices highlighting them as default device and knowing which one freedv will use?. So in both windows and linux i use external mic and usb speaker and find more stability...almost solid..

Hi Mark,

I took a look at your screenshots again and I just want to confirm, you're trying to use something like the following, right?

Radio Device: USB Audio Device
Decoded audio plays back through: High Definition Audio Device
Transmitted audio records through: Volt 476

The main thing I want to make sure of is that the other two device drop-down items are supposed to be for the analog side (i.e. audio going into the modulator and audio coming out of the decoder).

Thanks,
