Linux Mint 22.3 - Xfce 64-bit

Intel N100 8GB/256

FreeDV 2.2.1

Flrig 2.0.04

For a few minutes everything works normally, I can start and stop Modem, and restart modem repeatedly. But at some point, after pressing Stop Modem, the button remains gray'd out with text "Stop Modem". Waterfall stops, decoding/audio stops as it should, but the Modem can no longer be restarted. Closing and restarting app is the only resolution.

Flrig continues to work normally, (although on a windows install version 1.4.6 seems the most stable and responsive. Could not find a repository/installable version of 1.4.6 or close for Debian.)

One potential clue is that also, after the modem has been running for a while, the frequency selection in FreeDV continues to receive frequency updates from FLrig ok, but cannot set a frequency to FLRig. PTT also a no go, no doubt for the same reason. (PTT ok from FLrig)

I feel like this is some kind of buffering/something getting spammed issue with FLrig --> FreeDV or vice versa.

And if I never hit the Stop Modem, FreeDV just runs fine "forever" sans frequency selection and PTT.
So maybe that's my answer just never stopping it :)

But if someone wants to investigate further please advise where to grab what log that would be most useful.

Thank you

Scott

Hi Scott,

If possible, can you run FreeDV from the terminal, then go to Tools->Options->Debugging and select Verbose? This should cause more Hamlib related output to be printed out, which may indicate more specific errors when PTT and frequency control stops working.

Thanks,
