I can't see anything on FreeDV Reporter. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hi fred,

There are some issues with it running reliably.  Mooneer is looking into those.

It should be back up. What Mel said, a longer term solution is being looked into.

For those who are curious, the FreeDV Reporter server code is open source and located at https://bitbucket.org/tmiw/freedv-reporter/.

I turned on some additional logging and didn't see any unusual messages from the Socket.IO library the server uses, so I looked at what my browser was doing. Basically it appeared to be connecting but not actually completing the connection process (which involves receiving the current state of the server followed by a "connection complete" message). Looking at the code further, I surmised that it might be the lock it's acquiring on the internal user list--that is, we might actually have enough users now where this is a problem :)

Anyway, for the time being I checked in a change (https://bitbucket.org/tmiw/freedv-reporter/commits/b929d90305ab0f61974bffb0ff64287f4a424e20) to reduce the time we have that lock, which should hopefully help for at least the short to medium term. Let me know if it goes down again for sure.

Oh my, what a tough problem to have. Too many users now. 😊

Many thanks Mooneer.

Ever more memory committed to the server VM.
