FreeDV Mac users

Hi all,

I'm curious how many Mac users there are here. If you use FreeDV on your Mac, can you tell me what machine you have and what version of macOS you're using?

I am currently using a Mac mini M2 8gb ram, 256 HD.  I did have to purchase a powered USB hub to accommodate all of the devices used in the “shack”.  I have not had any issues with this setup.

Hello Mooneer,

I have downloaded and installed FreeDV 2.2.1 to my Mac mini M4 with 16 GB of RAM memory.  My OS is Tahoe 26.6.2.  I have not yet tried to get this system fully configured and operational, but it’s all on my to-do list.  My intention is to do this with a µSDX+ HF QRP Transceiver.  So far I have the  µSDX+ running with WSJT-X on FT-8 and WSPR with no problems.  Soon I will be trying to get the FreeDV program running.  

Prior to our moving to a new home in 2017, I did have FreeDV up and running on a Dell XPS Gen 3 machine with a Flex 5000 all under Windows XP, so I do understand all the audio I/O requirements.  This should be an interesting experiment and I am looking forward to it.

I have an uMac running Venture 13.7.8 which I have had some trouble running FreeDV although I havent't tried the latest version since I h've had such good luck on Mint I will give it a go this next week..
