Hello,

Trying to run FreeDV 1.9.2 build on a MBA with M1 chipset.

I could have sworn I had it running before, but now when I launch it asks for Microphone Permission like usual, I click Allow and it just stays in an endless cycle of asking for Microphone permission. Can't get past that.

I'm not sure if this is a Mac specific thing (I assume so) but not sure what to do about it. Any Mac users out there know what is going on?

Running Sonoma V14.0

Thanks

Hi Warren,

I noticed this on my M1 Mac Mini as well but I was able to eventually get past it after clicking Allow a bunch of times. It might be a Sonoma bug but I'll investigate further to make sure.

Thanks,

Thanks for confirming it isn't just me ... I tried quite a few times but gave up too fast - upon re-try after 40 clicks the Audio Dialog opened but every time I touch something it's another 10-40 clicks :(

Must be something with Sonoma :(

Hi Warren,

I'm pretty sure it is indeed a Sonoma bug, but I do have a workaround: starting it from Terminal, i.e.

% /Applications/FreeDV.app/Contents/MacOS/FreeDV

When I do this, it seems to only prompt me once (at least with the code in https://github.com/drowe67/freedv-gui/pull/566, which fixes another issue on earlier versions where the popup would appear twice). With 1.9.2 it'll probably show twice when you run it from Terminal but should work fine otherwise until Apple fixes this bug.

Thanks,

Works great from the command line - would never have thought of that!  Thanks
