Just started using freeDV and have sorted the configuration for my FTDX101MP and all seems to be working.
I have now been trying to get my IC-9700 sorted but with little success. I have CAt control, PTT and frequency change working but can't get any RF output I think I have missed something in the RIG config.
Can anyone running an IC-9700 and freeDV help me out with the rig config please

Thanks

Dave,
I also have the FTDX101D and FTDX10. My desktop PC just did a unattended Windows 11 update and now FreeDV will no longer work. I uninstalled the FreeDV and installed the latest version. Now FreeDV crashes every time I want to do the Setup Menu and either hit Apply button or run the Mic test to RX test FreeDV crashes and disappears.
I don't know why?

Hi Dave,

Can you provide a screenshot of Tools->CAT and PTT Configuration so we can confirm that the settings look correct?

Thanks,

Hi John,

There's a setting in the Windows sound options that allows applications to take exclusive control of the audio device. I recommend having this turned off it isn't already:

1. Go to the Start menu and open Settings->System->Sound.
2. Click on "More sound settings" and then under both the Playback and Recording tabs, click on each device being used with FreeDV and then click Properties.
3. Go to the Advanced tab and uncheck "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device".
4. Click OK and repeat 2-4 until you've confirmed this setting on all devices used with FreeDV.
5. Click OK on the main Sound dialog to save the modified settings.

Let me know if this helps for you at all and if not, we can continue with further troubleshooting.

Thanks,

Have you set the IC-9700 mode to USB-D? That's what's needed to pick up the audio coming in from the rear USB connection.
Make sure you are already set to USB, then touch the USB "button" and then "DATA". The mode should then show USB-D.
To get back to USB you have to touch the "DATA" button again - counter-intuitive I know.
FreeDV should be capable of setting this mode in the IC-9700 automatically when you start the Modem, but maybe there's a mode setting in FreeDV you need.

I have never had any real issues with Windows 11 except once when after an update it had renumbered all the coms ports
