I have just installed FreeDV for the first time and had no issues in configuring the soundcard from microHAMs Digi Keyer II interface, but I'm having issues in getting the PTT to key my rig. This interface uses a software on the PC side to create virtual COM ports and all the software you want to run uses them instead of any physical ports. This has worked fine with every single piece of software I used so far, except with FreeDV. When I select the corresponding serial port, it just comes back with the error message that it can't open that serial port. I use the exact same PTT configuration here as with WSJT-X for instance, so I assume it must be something FreeDV wan'ts to do here that doesn't work with the virtual port.
I don't want to install Hamlib since it my conflict with Omnirig that I need for other software.
Has somebody came across the same issue and has found a workaround? This is a Win10 machine and my rig is an IC-706MKIIG.

I would appreciate any help with this.
