Dear digital soil mapper,

I hope this message finds you well. As a valued member of the Digital Soil Mapping Working Group (DSM WG), I wanted to reach out to you regarding an important document we're preparing.

We are in the process of submitting a request for an extension of the DSM WG for another eight years. The discussions began at the Orléans, France workshop in 2023 and continued at the 2024 Pedometrics Conference in Las Cruces. An online consultation was conducted in 2024, when you shared comments on the DSM WG progress since 2005. The first version of the application form was circulated for you to comment last year. In-person discussions continued in 2025 during the workshop in Bangalore, India.

Now we need your input regarding the arguments for extension of the DSM WG. The first version of the document was prepared based key overview documents produced by the community along the last decade. These include conference reports and DSM/Pedometrics review articles published in major soil science journals.

I'm sharing a .docx version of the document for your convenience. Feel free to download it and provide your comments offline.

Your feedback and contributions are greatly appreciated, and they will help us present a comprehensive argument for extension of the DSM WG's to the IUSS.

Please send you comments to <alessandro...@gmail.com> till the June 6, 2025.

Thank you for your continued support and collaboration.

Best regards,
