Question 1
I went to http://digitalnz.org.nz/ and types the query "Freda Cook" (including the quotes). The system returned 9 records.

When I use http://api.digitalnz.org/v3/records.xml?api_key=xxxxx&text="Freda cook" only 8 records are returned. The record set does not include the second record returned from the first search,

Freda Cook meeting Vietnam's Prime Minister Pham Van Dong at Hanoi,...

What can I do to fix this, so that I see all nine records?

Question 2.

The reason that I started with Freda Cook as my test subject is that I know that there is a biography of her at TeAra: -
     http://www.teara.govt.nz/en/biographies/4c30/1

Is this included in Digital NZ?  If not, will it be?

Currently I have an index that DNZB gave me about 5 years ago, but it would be much better if I could access current information through the Digital NZ API.

Thank you, Robert.

Hi Robert,

The Dictionary of NZ Biography content should be there - we're a bit perplexed and looking into why it isn't turning up.  I'll email you about this directly when I know more tomorrow.

The ninth record in search you mention is from Alexander Turnbull Library. As Chris mentioned in an email earlier today most records within the Alexander Turnbull Library are not available through the public API at this point. We are hoping this will change in the future and we are trying to make this happen with the Turnbull staff.

All the best

Thanks Fiona.  You say

"most records within the Alexander Turnbull Library are not available through the public API at this point"
Is http://digitalnz.org.nz/ not a public interface? I was going to make it available as an alternative for FamNet users who what do to a general search of Digital NZ, not a search with My Digital NZ interface which is based on their FamNet records

I would expect these two searches to be consistent: both are presenting information to the public.

Regards, Robert.

Thanks Robert and we do sympathise.
It comes down to what Alexander Turnbull Library has permitted. I'm passing on your feedback to them.  We are working on it and examples like this help. So thank you.

Cheers, and apologies,
Fiona
