Hey guys!
Just a quick reminder that the next Digital Cabaret is this Tuesday,
October 14th! (That's tomorrow! WooHoo!)
Check out our ad in Flavorpill:

In case you're out of the loop, this month's theme is PERSPECTIVE.
We're super lucky to have my favorite local band Kid Gloves performing
for us this month! And it's not too late to bring a video or sign up
for a performance on the theme. If your interested in being part of
this month's cabaret, you know someone who might be, or you have
questions or suggestions, please email me at:
digital...@roadrunner.com
What we're looking for (on the theme PERSPECTIVE): videos of all
types, skits, magicians, one-act short plays, vaudeville or new-wave
vaudeville-type acts, fun spoken word. You decide: just make it fun,
creative, and engaging.
Hope you're all doing well! And I can't wait to see you all at the
cabaret on Tuesday!!!!
I've attached the flyer, please spread it around as you see fit!
(BTW, Tangier has a pretty good Happy Hour, which ends at 8pm, so if
you're up for cheap eats and cheap yummy cosmos, be sure to get there
early.)

P.S. Apologies if you get this email more than once. We're working on
coordinating our mailing lists. And once we do, I'll ask you to sign
up, so you don't keep receiving emails if you don't want to. Thanks so
much for your patience!

Please come be part of the DIGITAL CABARET: New mixed-media event that
combines digital video and live musical performances.
Theme: PERSPECTIVE
TUESDAY, October 14
Host: Brian Finklestein
Performer: Kid Gloves
8pm (**SHARP**) sign-up
$7 at the door
@ Tangier Lounge
2138 Hillhurst Avenue at Los Feliz Boulevard
Los Angeles, CA
Phone:
(323) 666-8666
Prepare a video (no longer than 4 minutes) on the theme PERSPECTIVE.
Prepare a skit, some magic, a one-act short play, fun spoken word,
etc; You decide: just make it fun, creative, and engaging (no longer
than about 5 minutes), and on the theme PERSPECTIVE.
How it Works:
8:00 PM (SHARP) sign up to show your video, volunteer to be on a
judging team or just sit back and listen. 8:30 (SHARP), we'll pick the
first name and the show will begin. After each screening, the judges
confer, and give a score. The video with the highest score becomes our
Cabaret winner. After the video competition, we’ll have a live
performance.
Video Tips: Any genre is ok, but it should be compelling. The digital
cabaret welcomes experimental video art, music videos, and
conventional narratives.
Event Producers: Melanie McQuitty and Will Coley
About our Host:
Brian Finkelstein is a comedic writer / performer. His last one-person
show, First Day Off In A Long Time, was selected for the HBO/US Comedy
Arts Festival in Aspen and chosen “Best In Comedy 2005″ by Time Out
New York. The show was later developed as a sitcom for FOX. Most
recently he has been a writer for The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Background:
Much like the mantra of the film Ratatouile, “anyone can make media.”
Since this creation today is highly social, the event provides the
opportunity for everyday filmmakers to meet, screen each other’s work,
provide feedback, and create even stronger content, while relishing in
the fruits of mixed-media creativity.
