I'm wondering if an hour for mapping both online and offline
communities and examining crossover might be a bit ambitious...
I think discussion of aggregation/tools for drawing together is
inevitable (and I see there have been some helpful links on the Ning
group), but not necessarily unhelpful as long as we're reasonably
disciplined about meeting the objective of the session, which I
understand to be designing a process for linking online and offline
communities over time and allows them to grow as a sort of eco-system
of community networks. Correct me if I've got the wrong end of the
stick!!
I am wondering whether there is space to give some thought to offline
mechanisms for bridging the gaps between networks, while keeping the
overall digital theme. Offline methods might well be the easiest
entry point for new and potential online networkers and may even help
to encourage people through the 90 - 9 - 1 'divides' (i.e. lurking,
editing and creating).
In terms of output what's been suggested looks good - an agreed set of
components that show what actions can be taken to bridge community
networks, ideally in the form of a rough plan. It might also be
helpful to think about the next event and any outcomes we might need
from this session to inform it.
I'm interested in the idea of gaming techniques - what kind of thing
are you thinking of?
Really looking forward to the session
