Hello Vancouverites - for those who weren't there, we had a great brainstorming meeting yesterday - see photo attached. I'll try to get more fulsome notes out shortly, but here's some of ideas that seemed to be popular and reality easy to pull off.

IDEAS:

1. UBB myths game show (Dayla was pretty keen on this one)

2. pay-as-you-walk square
- tape off any area of the sidewalk and tell people they need to pay for use (as an entry point to have them sign the petition for passage)
- Anyone wanna sign up to do this - it's the easiest one.

3. hard drive postal service
- could be a postal service dress up thing, or some type of flyer/poster making the point that flying a hard drive across the country would be cheaper than usage based billing.

4. Telecom "panhandlers" (done delicately, for lack of a better word...)

5. audio record people's reactions/ thoughts/ edit it into a 1-2 min piece for the website.

6.  have a few tables set up where people could 'dispute' their ticket. (aka sign petitions and have their outrage against ubb recorded).

More ideas welcome!

I'll send another email with specifics about Saturday.

Hey everyone,
My name's Paul Kitz, I'm organizing our street presence for the public
awareness and petition drive on Saturday. I'm really looking forward
to building this movement together and showing the government, CRTC
and ISPs that Canadians will not be pushed around.

I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE everyone to meet at W2 at 11:30 for a half-hour
tutorial on how to engage the public effectively. From there we will
break off into groups and hit the streets of Vancouver!

If you can't make it to W2 at 11:30, you can meet up with us at the
VAG at 1:00 pm.

Please print off the petition, bring a binder, a pen and some money
for transit. If you show up without these things, we can provide them.
Ideally, you would let me know that you don't have access to these
things before hand.

If you have any questions or need to get in touch, the best way is by
text as I'll be out of town until friday evening. Failing that you can
call after 6:30 at:

778-858-8360

Looking forward to Saturday. See you then!
Paul Kitz

Does anyone want to come up with questions for the quiz? I'd good to handle the spectacle of doing a faux-game show, but I'm not the best person to provide good facts for a True or False sort of thing.
Who's done their research?
