Hello All,

We got about 8-10 people out for the meeting tonight and it was a great success.  Attached are the minutes from the meeting this evening.

We have made the decision to meet on Saturday, January 26th at 1pm at the corner of De Maisonneuve and Guy.

The meeting place will be in Norman Bethune Square. We will then move down Ste Catherine street engaging in a petition drive, popular education and creative street theatre

We will walk along Ste Catherine to Philips Square. Depending on the group size we may split up and walk up McGill College to cover McGill Campus, meeting again on University and Ste Catherine.

We are also interested in coming up with creative activities and other ideas during this drive. Suggestions include handing out "tickets" with symbolic fines for going over certain actions such as walking or talking ...  We want to document the event with film and photos.

If you believe anything is missing or want to contribute to this plan, your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

We are calling on other creative ideas for street theatre and to engage the public

We also need photographers and filmographers.

We want to engage the traditional press and greater Montreal community.

Below is a brief discussion of Tasks to Be Completed and to whom they have been Assigned.

If you have the time or knowledge to contribute to these tasks your help would be greatly appreciated.

Jamie Klinger's Notes from Meeting on Feb 16, 2011.

Montreal Day of Action

Nick - Community Development
Glenn - Campaign Organizer
Matt - Architecture
Andrew - IT Consulting

Problem is that the Internet is regulated first and foremost.
 - What this means for structuring societies of the future
 - We need free internet for utopia
          * limits access by poor

Get people to give emails (need sheet) at reddit meetup on Friday at 7pm at Brutopia

Create Excel Price Sheet comparing costs of providers / Other side talks about how this affects people close to them (their children for example)

ICRIQ - Get reps from small ISPs.

Future topics

How to get consumers to care about false-information

Consider creating News Conglomerate for Montreal (and for everywhere that OpenMedia has a base)

Consider creating a Blog Media List (emails of all the bloggers in Montreal interested in receiving information about X, Y, Z, can pick and choose topics of interest, by doing this, acquires all guerrilla media networks at once for Cause 1, 2, 3).

-----------------

I have realized that I won't be able to attend the day of action, but I'll still help set up and promote until it happens.

All the best,

- Jamie
