Bonjour supporters de la pétition « Arrêtez le compteur! » / Hey Montreal Stop The Meter supporters!

Today @1pm is the Stop The Meter National Day of Action. 

If you can get there at 12:30 pm to help with final planning and logistics it would be greatly appreciated!

Our goal is to hit HALF A MILLION Canadians who have signed the petition calling on the CRTC to Stop The Meter and end Internet caps so make sure tell your friends and family to join you and come out and support our work. You can even invite them to event through Facebook.

Here's what you need to do to get involved today:

1) Print off five copies of the Stop The Meter CRTC Petition: http://bit.ly/fWJPdR and also some copies of the data usage ticket: http://bit.ly/giTW5W

2) If you have time, familiarize yourself with the Open Media FAQ: http://bit.ly/fChDFO

3) Bring a pen and a clipboard. 

4) Meet local supporters today at 1pm @ the Corner of De Maisonneuve and Guy. Get yourself assigned to a team or join up with one or two more people. 

5) Walk around public places (busy streets, bus stations, campuses, coffee shops, mall entrances, etc) asking Canadians to sign the petition calling on Ottawa to "Stop The Meter and end Internet caps." Hand out the internet usage tickets to those using their laptops.

6) Head back over to Phillips square. 

7) Leave your signed petitions with one person who will then MAIL THEM BACK to OpenMedia.ca's office in Vancouver. Address is on the petition. (So if somehow you end up with them, then please send them in as well)

That's IT! 

If you want to get really creative and have fun feel free to get dressed up as a "Meter Maid" and hand out "Data Usage Tickets" to unsuspecting Canadians using the Internet. You can print off the Internet Infraction tickets here: http://openmedia.ca/meter/toolkit. Might help spice things up for the media who we have invited to attend your local petition drive. 

If you have any other creative ideas then don’t be shy. Let’s make this an innovative participatory event!

Other creative ideas that have been mentioned include:

1) pay-as-you-walk square 

- tape off any area of the sidewalk and tell people they need to pay for use (as an entry point to have them sign the petition for passage)

- Anyone wanna sign up to do this - it's the easiest one. 

2)  buy some "Internet Traffic Cop" vests and hats, badges etc... :) If you want to wear this stuff, because it's fun and ridiculous 

If you have a camera, video equipment, a musical instrument then bring them along.

Hope you can join us as well keep up the pressure while the CRTC reviews usage based billing (Internet metering).

La journée nationale d’action contre la facturation à l’utilisation est aujourd'hui à 13:00 (1:00 PM).

Notre but est de dépasser le demi-million de signataires Canadiens pour la pétition appelant le CRTC à arrêter le compteur et d’éliminer les allocations d’usage Internet. Assurez vos d’expliquer la situation à vos proches, amis et collègues et de les inviter à se joindre à nous aujourd;hui

Voici ce que vous avez besoin pour vous impliquer aujourd'hui.

Si vous pouvez arriver à 12h30 pour aider à la planification finale et de la logistique, il serait grandement appréci

1) Imprimez cinq copies de la pétition « Arrêtez le compteur » :

2) Si vous avez du temps, familiarisez-vous avec les arguments contre UBB

3) Apportez un crayon et un presse-papier

4) Rencontrez les supporters locaux ce Samedi à l’intersection de Maisonneuve Ouest et Guy. Demandez d’être assigné à une équipe ou mettez-vous en équipe avec une ou deux personnes.

5) Marchez autour d’endroit fréquentées (rues très fréquentées, station de transport en commun, campus, cafés, entrées de centres commerciaux, etc.) et demandez aux public de signer la pétition. Donnez des billets d’infractions aux personnes utilisant leurs ordinateurs portables.

6) Marchez vers le Carré Philips.

7) Laissez vos pétitions signées avec une personne qui va les poster vers les bureaux d’OpenMedia.ca à Vancouver. L’adresse est sur la pétition.

Si vous voulez vraiment être créatif et avoir du plaisir alors habillez-vous en « contrôleur Internet » et donnez des billets d’infractions aux personnes qui utilisent Internet.
