VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
UNU-IIST CENTER FOR ELECTRONIC GOVERNANCE
---------------------------------------------------------

UNU-IIST Center for Electronic Governance is an international Center
of Excellence on research and practice in Electronic Governance, part
of United Nations University - International Institute for Software
Technology, located in Macao SAR, China. The Center supports
governments in developing and transition countries in strategic use of
technology to transform the working of public organizations and their
relationships with citizens, businesses, civil society and with each
other. To this end, the Center conducts applied and policy research,
capacity building, and various forms of development - software
development, strategy development, institutional development and
development of communities of practice. More information about the

The Center welcomes applications from qualified individuals for
several Researcher and Senior Researcher positions to join its
multi-disciplinary team of researchers and practitioners, and support
the execution and development of its project portfolio.

The applicant must hold a PhD degree in Information Systems, Public
Administration and Policy, Development Management, Knowledge
Management, Sociology, Economics or a related area, combined with
strong interest in strategic use of technology in government and
society. He or she must possess deep domain knowledge, supported by
strong publication record, in the chosen area of speciality. Knowledge
of the public sector, project management experience and experience in
working with developing and transition countries are an advantage.

The applicant must possess excellent organizational and communication
skills, including fluency in English (writing skills in particular).
He or she must be able to work independently, possibly managing a
small team, with strong orientation on deliverables and goals, and
dedication to the values and principles of the United Nations.

All positions are initially for a period of one year, available
immediately, with possibility of extension depending on performance.
Salary range is 3000-5000USD per month for Senior Researcher and
2000-3000USD for Researcher positions; salaries are paid without
deduction of tax in Macao. The positions include a single economy
travel to/from Macao, and free accommodation in a fully-furnished
apartment, with all utility expenses paid by the staff.
