Celebrate Tamil Heritage Month and the 4th Digital Tamil Studies Symposium

We welcome you to the Tamil Heritage Month celebration and the 4th Digital Tamil Studies Symposium, to be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the University of Toronto Scarborough Library.

This symposium will feature presentations by multidisciplinary researchers, librarians, computer professionals, and enthusiasts. The sessions will be followed by interactive discussions and a keynote address by Professor Sanathanan.

The presentations will explore the intersection of Libraries, Technology, and Tamil Studies, covering the following subjects:

• Technologies that Help Us See
• Digitization and Exhibition of Upcountry Records
• Digital Tamil Studies program at the UTSC Library
  
• From Data to Dialogue: Building Languages Models for Tamil
• Encyclopedia of Singapore Tamils
• Digital Recovery: Rethinking the Early Nineteenth-Century Tamil Print World Through WorldCat

The symposium will be held both virtually (via Zoom) and in-person. Bilingual translation services in Tamil and English will be provided during the event.
