Hi, all,

I have been remiss in my introduction as a supporter of this DL Assessment group.  I am Michelle Dalmau, Interim Head of Digital Collections Services at the IU Libraries, and am one of the contributors, along with my awesome colleagues, Stacy Konkiel and Dave Scherer, to a working session we held at DLF Forum 2013: "Determining Assessment Strategies for Digital Libraries and Institutional Repositories Using Usage Statistics and Altmetrics" (http://www.diglib.org/forums/2013forum/schedule/21-2/).  We are currently finishing up a white paper we plan to share widely as a result of that session so stay tuned for that.

In my past life I was an "Interface and Usability Specialist" and have always cared for metrics from that perspective, but more than anything these days, I am interested in understanding popular and scholarly impact of our digital collections, and especially interested in documenting unanticipated use of our digital collections.  To that end, Melissa Terras just published an excellent blog post on just this theme that is worth reading:  <http://melissaterras.blogspot.com/2014/05/digitisations-most-wanted.html>.

More soon!

Thank you for posting these resources! Really interesting work.  I requested access to the white paper draft from your working session google doc (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Ieg3IoxnnannybMfdM74XvYfWf24nDYX-Ih3JfmKwxE/edit); I would love to look at it if you don't mind.

Hi, Molly,

We aren't ready to share our paper draft just yet.  We will be distributing it for public comment so you will definitely have an opportunity to not only look at it, but also provide feedback.

Thanks,
Michelle
