Greetings:

This email is intended to update the community on the current and future work of the DLF AIG Content Reuse Working Group. The group is in its final year of a grant project, titled “Digital Content Reuse Assessment Framework Toolkit (D-CRAFT)“, initiated in July 2019 by an award from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) (LG-36-19-0036-19). Those interested in learning more about the project can see the DLF Blog post “Introducing D-CRAFT.”

D-CRAFT builds from the successful Developing a Framework for Measuring Reuse of Digital Objects (Measuring Reuse) project, an IMLS grant initiative (LG-73-17-0002-17), which ran from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018.

Content Reuse Working Group in 2023

The team will finalize content for D-CRAFT and launch the resource for digital library practitioners by June 30, 2023. This content includes:

Ethical Considerations and Guidelines for the Assessment of Use and Reuse of Digital Content, which will address key principles for responsibly assessing reuse, including indigenous and underrepresented communities’ concerns and ideas, as well as user privacy.
Reuse Assessment Recommended Practices, which will aggregate tools and resources and compile existing strategies for assessing various facets of digital object reuse.
Education and Engagement Tools, which will include tutorials and quick start guides that provide examples and templates to demonstrate practical implementation of the recommended assessment practices.

The team will also be producing online workshops to instruct digital library practitioners on how they can leverage D-CRAFT to assess for digital collections reuse. Dates and times for these online workshops will be shared broadly in the future.

How can you participate?

As the team completes grant objectives, it will continue to seek the input of communities. This valuable exchange will ensure that the deliverables from the project can be utilized by partner communities to address topics related to the reuse of digital assets. The D-CRAFT project team will release calls for public comment on prominent listservs as well as via its webpage.
