I’m excited to share info about our 2022 series of Digital Humanities Lab webinars at the University of Adelaide Library.
Details of the first session, coming up at the start of August, are below:
DH Lab: Studying online social platforms at large and small scale
Tuesday 2nd August, 10.30am
In this webinar we’ll hear from two different and contrasting researchers about social platforms and behaviours in online space. Francisco Zanartu, School of Computer Science, will share their project to automatically generate unexpected
inputs in online communities to test integrity and privacy, while Dr Kim Barbour, School of Humanities, will talk about her work with small data and the strategic production of online identity, and the research challenges of working in this space.

Four further sessions look at:
· 3D scanning of Indigenous and Indonesian musical instruments, as well as 3D printing to adapt or create new musical instruments that suit the needs of professional musicians with disabilities,
· Gaming, VR and critical thinking in education and learning,
· Preservation of digital cultural heritage and physical built heritage using digital tools, and
· Different uses of museum and other collections, with focuses on 3D scanning and data storytelling
We’ll hear from PhD students, postdocs, professors, archivists and data science consultants. Staff, students, and friends from outside the University are all welcome to attend. Sessions are free, one hour, and registration is essential.
