Dear Members of the Dowsing Community > International Digital Dowsers,

In order to better facilitate the communication and archiving of dowsing material,
I have set up the following dowsing groups @ googlegroups.com
This will not affect any current discussion nor posting @ Yahoo at this time .

dowsin...@googlegroups.com

This will serve as an open door to dowsers world wide and it is categorized
in several areas including Health> Alt , Sciecne and Tech > Alt , Society > Spiritual> Divination
etc.
This group is open to all , unmoderated, and messages _internet_ searchable ........ it will be an
open door /portal to
facilitate dowsers finding and joining digital-dowsers @ yahoo and google groups.

digital...@googlegroups.com this is our future back up group, with same configuration as now
moderated , private archives , members only etc. Google is much lighter software with no noisy ads
etc.
This will serve as the Future Home Base for ISD - International Digital Dowsers Discussion

digital-dow...@googlegroups.com is ready to go now . It is members only read archive.
_However_ to simplify in the immediate I have [anyone may post ] open .
This will will be simpler than uploading to the existing groups files for any Good Dowsing Posts /
Articles
So what can be done is, if you feel you have a relevant dowsing post or article, as an example
Geoffs recent post [good one] > Programing Your Pendulum< , simply CC: or pref BCC: your post
to the group to digital-dow...@googlegroups.com
then approved members may access the archives [privacy considerations etc] at a later time
If it starts getting spammed, [which will have to delete] i will have to close the open posting
but by then regulars who make themselves "known" can be subscribed and post /archive freely .

This way we can start a clean ,organized, dowsing focused , internally searchable archive.
Put a good Clear Relevant Subject Header Title on Post. :)

note > disregard dow...@googlegroups.com it is lost in the mire lol > old email addy cant sub
etc.
working on regaining ownership as usual......

One other option is to manually post a Digest version to a google group , I had tried to do this
automatically but as i mentioned, this failed. If soemone would take upon this task of posting
to Google each digest it would be appreciated > let me know

So we will put this to the test....... and archive this post....... follow my lead , and if you have
anything
special you have posted in the past , or know of in the archives > let er rip to :
digital-dow...@googlegroups.com for the time being you need not join or do anything to post.

JUST POST and see if we can get a lot of Good Dowsing Stuff in there for Us and others along the
way.
In the meantime EVERYONE is subscribed to digital...@googlegroups.com you need not do
anything
but if you want to read messages on the web at a later time you will need to do the google thing
like yahoo.
It will be in your welcome message. Please leave your email set to recieve mail till such time we
are actually
using it.

If you are feeling adventurous , make a post to dowsin...@googlegroups.com . I mention this to
you who
are Dowsing Teachers , Writers, Authors , Website owners , Group Leaders , Facilitators , Have a
good story to tell
or anything . All I ask is to help point folks to "home" in your posts along with your other info

Thanks to All and Have a Good Dowsing Day !

Regarding the orignal Subject header........

Stefan, All,

I'll have to agree there Stephan , with all your suggestions[see below]
hence folks, my seemingly obsession with subject headers lol.....

The real task is extraction of the raw data / posts from Yahoo servers if ever possible.
This has been tried by several [me] in the past using various webstrippers
to no conclusive avail ...... Yahoo has multi imbedded servers..... etc.

So in the meantime i have spent the last umpteen hrs setting up
groups for back up at google groups [beta] knowing that their
search engine technology will be built into their groups but still
i emphasize, remain private members only searchable archives.....

As soon as the current members list is approved by google , you will all
get a welcome message...... there is to be no immediate transfer etc. or change
of posting etc.

The main objective [which failed] was to archive a searchable daily digest
@ digital-dow...@googlegroups.com . Google and Yahoo being
competitors will not recognize one anothers adresses etc. [not valid ]
both will allow direct subscriptions but sadly not to another .
It used to be [ like egroups ] that they would solicit archiving groups as a service.
This is how it all originally started out archiving dow...@intuition.org@egroups.com
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dow...@intuition.org for those feeling nostalgic :)

There are other free archiving services but alas they are publicly searchable hence
prone to spambots and crawlers [note i just had this problem @ [dowse] so i felt
this was not an option . I for the first time in a long time recieve [0] spam !

> geo > >>>>>>> another 12 hrs @ comp time for a break lol .

Subject: Re: [ISD] Saving material / Archives vs Files / Yahoo vs Google

Geo, to me it seems this documentation quest can only be solved by the
raw power of the Linux tool chest, at a nuts-and-bolts level: dowenload
of data through a 'sed' {Stream EDitor] filter in order to re-format the
data stream, then indexing contents for retrieval of data via a
relational SQL database [like MySQL, a free database-pgm] and then
presentation of searchable data via a group-owned server, running for
example Apache, a free Linux server used by some 90% of the sites at the
Internet.. This is however a major undertaking.

To me it does not seem likely that the presently Yahoo!-based [ISD]
archive will be made more easily searchable by Yahoo! _AND_, even if so,
the Yahoo! search engine only searches for _files_ {'Subject:' line],
not indexed contents. Since the 'Subject:' line, as you might have
noticed, does not always match the contents, only the 'indexed contents'
model is really _searchable_.

This mode could perhaps be implemented on a searchable CD-ROM, but the
production of such a CD-ROM is still a major job. Feasible though.

Searching the CD-ROM could also be delegated to a desktop-based search
pgm, and in such a case, the production of the CD-ROM would be a lot
more easy.
