Dear all,
Save The Date for World Digital Preservation Day (WDPD2025) on Thursday 6 November 2025 and join individuals and institutions from across the globe in a celebration of digital preservation!
Organized by the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) and supported by digital preservation networks around the globe, World Digital Preservation Day is open to participation from anyone interested in securing our digital legacy - across all sectors and geographic
locations.
This year’s theme Why Preserve? invites digital preservation practitioners to explore the diverse motivations behind digital preservation efforts. We are encouraging organizations to reflect on their unique reasons to preserve their digital collections,
to share their stories, and to transform those insights into compelling advocacy messages that resonate with diverse audiences. This WDPD theme will identify and highlight the current digital preservation landscape, outline a path forward and invite the community
to unite in answering a powerful question: Why Preserve?
In an exciting development on World Digital Preservation Day on Thursday 6th November, alongside the iPRES 2025 conference (3-7 November) in Wellington, the DPC will launch a global 'Why Preserve?' campaign, equipping the global digital preservation community
with compelling advocacy messages and resources to advocate for the importance of preserving our digital assets.
World Digital Preservation Day is just one of the ways the DPC helps to raise awareness of the strategic, cultural, and technological issues which make up the digital preservation challenge. The DPC also supports members through other advocacy activities, workforce
development, and partnerships, helping members to deliver resilient long-term access to digital content and services and derive enduring value from their digital collections.
