Cyber-attacks on collecting organizations are no longer hypothetical. In recent years, libraries, archives, museums, and other memory institutions around the world have experienced significant disruptions, data loss, and recovery challenges following cyber
incidents.
How can digital preservation practitioners prepare for these risks? What role can digital preservation play in building cyber resilience? And where are the limits of preservation approaches when responding to cyber threats?
Join the Digital Preservation Coalition on 18 June, 8-11am UTC
(check
for your local time) for an online event exploring how organizations are adapting their practices to operate securely in an increasingly challenging threat landscape.
Speakers from the State Library of New South Wales, Bibliothèque nationale de France, and the National Museum of the Royal Navy will share their own experiences and reflections on cyber security and digital preservation, including:
• Balancing cybersecurity controls with digital preservation practice
• Recovering after a cyber-attack
• Managing digital risks at national scale
The event will also mark the launch of a new DPC Technology Watch Guidance Note on Cybersecurity, which will share recommendations and key principles – such as Zero Trust - for those seeking to do resilient digital preservation in a world of cyber risk.
Registration is open now. Attendance is free for DPC Members and Supporters, with places available to non-members.
Looking forward to seeing you next week!
