In just seven weeks, on Thursday 6 November, it’s all about World Digital Preservation Day (WDPD2025) and this year we’re delighted it coincides with the iPRES 2025 conference!
World Digital Preservation Day is a brilliant opportunity to raise global awareness for digital preservation and to connect our worldwide community. Every year, on the first Thursday of November, we celebrate all things digital preservation - and in 2025 we’re asking a simple yet powerful question: Why Preserve?
This year’s theme invites digital preservation practitioners to explore the diverse motivations behind digital preservation efforts. We are encouraging organizations to reflect on their unique reasons to preserve their digital assets and to share their stories.
How to participate is entirely up to you: write a blog about your “why,” spotlight a collection on social media using #WDPD2025, host a webinar, open house, workshop or run a quick skill‑share with colleagues. Creative approaches are welcome too, from bakes to earrings to games and playlists.

To help you get ready for the Day, we'll have visuals for you to promote your activity. The WDPD logo set will be available in 42 languages next week, giving you plenty of choice for your outreach. Please note that sticker orders will also open soon, so keep an eye out for updates!

If you’re running a WDPD2025 event and would like it listed on the DPC website for the world to see, please email angela....@dpconline.org
