To mark the
25th anniversary of JPEG 2000, the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is hosting a free and open event on Wednesday 19 November 2025, from 14:00 to 17:00 UTC, to recognize the role this important standard has played in digitization and digital preservation
over the past quarter century.
During the session, participants will hear about the development and evolution of JPEG 2000, learn from organizations that have implemented it in their work and the challenges they have faced, and discuss what might come next.
If you have used JPEG 2000, we would love to hear from you! We welcome short presentations of up to 20 minutes featuring case studies or exemplars from any sector - about work past, present, or future. Please send a brief description of your proposed contribution
to
michael...@dpconline.org by
Thursday 24 October.
This event will be a community-led forum for discussion about JPEG 2000, its uses, and its impact. Please note that presentations of commercial solutions or product demonstrations are unlikely to be appropriate for this occasion.
The full programme will be published and circulated in early November. In the meantime, please
save the date: Wednesday 19 November 2025, 14:00–17:00 UTC.
