to Digital Curation
This may be of limited interest, but the Linked Data on the Web
workshop [1] going on now at WWW2010 has a short paper by Bernhard
Schandl about making file systems available as linked data:
Lifting File Systems into the Linked Data Cloud with TripFS [2]
There's also a demo available [3] that lets you browse some
directories of video and audio content. I thought it was interesting
to see the use of RDFa in the HTML presentation to make metadata about
the bitstreams available. Perhaps it's just fanciful, but with my
digital curation hat on, it is interesting to imagine layering
assertions about the file formats into the descriptions, say if UDFR
[4] had URIs for file formats along the lines of what Dave Tarrant
demonstrated last year at iPRES [5, 6].
