Nominations Open: 2026 Open Publishing Awards

Nominations for the 2026 Open Publishing Awards are open! With FORCE11 helping present this year’s effort, we’re celebrating the people, projects, and organizations advancing open knowledge.

Following two previous editions in 2019 and 2021, we’re excited to bring the awards back. Visit openpublishingawards.net to explore past recipients and nominate work that deserves recognition.

We’re welcoming nominations across six categories:

• Open Content: writing, audio, and video that bring open knowledge to audiences.

• Open Source Software: openly developed tools that enable knowledge sharing.

• Open Data: datasets that advance research and transparency.

• Open Infrastructure: systems and services that sustain open knowledge.

• Open Organization: organizations pioneering open practices.

• Lifetime Contribution: individuals whose sustained contributions have shaped open publishing.

Submit your nominations by November 1, 2026. Self-nominations are welcome, and you can nominate more than one project. Tell us why the work deserves recognition and what role openness plays in making it special.

The awards are a community celebration—an opportunity to recognize remarkable contributions and learn from one another. Awards will be announced online in December 2026.
