Worldwide nestor Community Survey – Reminder to fill in the questionnaire by 31 March 2026

Dear Colleagues,
With this mail we politely remind you to fill in the questionnaire for the next iteration of the survey. This questionnaire is accessible with: https://zbw-umfrage.limesurvey.net/288372?lang=en . It will be open until 31th of March 2026.
It’s important to fill in the new questionnaire in every iteration, in order to see if communities are still active and how communities develop over time.
In 2026 nestor launches a third iteration of a community survey to analyse the digital preservation communities worldwide once again. With this initiative we help to make this landscape more visible and transparent. nestor working group is cooperating with the Open Preservation Foundation (OPF). The OPF will create a search facility for the data from the nestor Community Profiles, called the ‘Digital Preservation Community Search”. The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) and OPF will support nestor in promoting both the survey and the meta-search functionality for its results as well.
To get an idea of the survey and its use, we, together with our partners, prepared recordings of a webinar that we organized in February to inform about the survey and to give you some hints that make filling in the questionnaire easier. A great number of communities agreed to publish their Community Profiles on the nestor website:

Communities can check whether they will adapt and update these data for the 2026 questionnaire. It’s important that you fill in the new questionnaire in every iteration.
Please keep in mind that we need only one complete questionnaire per community / network for this iteration of the survey. Please communicate this in your network and ensure, that one single questionnaire is the “official” version of your community. Information regarding data privacy protection is included in the survey.
We greatly appreciate your participation in our survey. With your participation you contribute to increase visibility and transparency of digital preservation communities around the world and that will be useful information for you as well.
