The next set of finalists are revealed today, with three more initiatives celebrated for the practical application of preservation tools to protect at-risk digital objects as part of the prestigious Award for Safeguarding the Digital Legacy.
Finalists for The National Archives (UK) Award for Safeguarding the Digital Legacy are (in no particular order):
  • Data Rescue Project
  • Archive of Personal Testimonies The Russian Invasion of Ukraine
  • The Tutankhamun Spatial Archive
Michael Launchbury of The National Archives (UK), sponsor of the Award for Safeguarding the Digital Legacy, welcomed the finalists, saying:

‘As proud sponsors of the Safeguarding the Digital Legacy category, we are delighted to celebrate this year's extraordinary finalists. This shortlist beautifully highlights the remarkable adaptability required in digital preservation today, showcasing everything from rapid, community-driven data rescue under pressure to the sophisticated structural migration of complex legacy architectures. These initiatives demonstrate the genuine expertise and continuous action needed to protect the historical context of records, outpace technological obsolescence, and keep data secure for the future.’
Before the judges decide on the winners, members of the Digital Preservation Coalition will be invited to cast their vote on each category once all the finalists have been announced. Members will be asked to select their first and second choices for each category and are asked to provide feedback to the finalists. Each Full Member, Associate and Allied Organisation of the DPC may submit one vote. Voting will open Tuesday 16th June.
Following an interview with the Judges, winners will be revealed at the presentation ceremony on Thursday 15th October alongside the digital preservation community, friends, family and peers from leading organizations.
The Digital Preservation Awards are a world-wide celebration of significant and state-of-the-art contributions to securing our digital legacy and just one of the ways the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) helps to raise awareness of the strategic, cultural, and technological issues which make up the digital preservation challenge.
