Hi all,

Lots going on, thanks for the continued updates and sharing of resources and feedback on the Google docs.

Digital Citizenship for Students Course

I will continue to work on this this week (feel free to join me J). Really keen to have some people put themselves forward as “developers” for each of the modules, feel free to add your name to the Google Doc! Nikki Kaye (MP for Central Auckland) has lent her support and forwarded it on to Hekia Parata for consideration for some possible funding – will update you if/when we hear anything back on that.

Digital NZ, National Library, Creative Commons NZ, NetSafe, WatchDog and NEAL (and many of you!) are all supporting the project which is AWESOME! I will be at NetHui in the holidays and am hoping to present at the Digital Citizenship Session about the project to date. I am also planning to meet the Maori IT group there to ensure the definitions of a digital citizenship acknowledges the Treaty of Waitangi. There will also be a wee feature in the Education Aotearoa (NZEI) magazine next term. So heaps happening!

In terms of publishing the course content. We will be creating a Wikieducator version in the first instance which will be entirely a creative commons OER and available for anyone to use and adapt for their own purposes. We will then develop a Moodle course which will be open to any students to enrol in in early 2012. The aim is that in doing both makes it a useful resource for more of us, and that you can have something that you can adapt and an option that is ready to use (by students).

Digital Citizenship Resource for NZ Teachers

This is also chugging along. Mark Osbourne (ASHS) is providing his wiki magician services to get it up on WikiEducator as a creative commons/OER document. Thanks also to Matt McGregor (Creative Commons NZ) who has contributed as well. Again, feel free to contribute as well! Both of these projects are owned by us all!

Hopefully see some of you face to face at NetHui!

Cheers

Claire
