Hi - thanks to all who can add advice.

I am trying to take existing analytics/code from an old site (located on server-A), and transfer it to a new site (on server-B).  The URLs are the same - they're just on different hosting servers.

  1. Is it as simple as taking the script from old site and placing it on the new site (if the old site is no longer online)?
  2. Or will I need to create a new site on my GA account for the new site?
  3. What if the URLs are different, but I want to use the same tracking code - because it's the "same site" but with an updated/better URL?
Thanks!
Josh

Hi Josh,

You are correct - simply use the same GA tracking code and implement it on the new version of the website located on your new server.
Even if the domain is different, you can use the same tracking code.
Happy Tracking!
