SESSION TIMEOUT

It has been given to put session timeout more than the largest video length in website, but usually excluding the video time , time is also consumed during buffering of video , 30 min of video may take 50 minutes to buffer and view ..what about this? does the session time considers only the view time of video? if not then how to estimate the time of buffer and set session time out time?
