What is a "sandbox" account?

A “sandbox” account is just another Google Analytics account that you'll set up for this course in order to practice and test account settings without having to use your existing account. We want you to have an environment to practice in where you're not afraid to make mistakes!

How do I create a "sandbox" account?

Creating a "sandbox" account is just the same as creating a regular Google Analytics account. We use the term "sandbox" to remind you that this is a practice environment.

To create a new "sandbox" or "practice" account in Google Analytics, follow the instructions here: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1009694

If you are brand new to Google Analytics, to create your first account:

• Go to http://www.google.com/analytics.
  
• Click Access Google Analytics, and follow the instructions.
  

If you already have a Google Analytics account, you'll need to create a new one as your "sandbox" by following these instructions:

• Click Admin at the top of any Analytics page.
  
• In the Account column, click the menu, then click Create new account.
  
• Follow the instructions.
  

Do I need to add the tracking code from my "sandbox" account to a website?

For the purposes of this course, you do not need to add the code from your "sandbox" account to www.myoutdoorstore.com (the fictional website) or any other website. The activities for creating the account and applying some basic settings to the account are simply meant to familiarize you with different features of Google Analytics.

I'm getting an error when trying to create my "sandbox" account. What's happening?

Each unique username can create a maximum of 25 Google Analytics accounts. If you are receiving an error when trying to create your “sandbox” account, you have likely met this limit and will need to create your new account with a separate username.

If you do create an account with a different username, you can still add your original username as an administrator on the new account so that you have full access to complete the course activities from one username.

BTW, do we have to set track to a mobile application at the same time? If the answer is yes, I dont know the application name of the my outdoor company...

Hi,  I've been to able to create sandbox account and add website property... For the mobile app , property I somehow created a different property (as it has a different tracking number).

I wanted to delete everything and start all over again.

Please suggest.

Hi There,
I named my mob app 'My outdoor company'.  I now see the following listed:

My Outdoor Store (UA-45098686-2)
	All Mobile App Data	0	0	0	0
	My Outdoor Store (UA-45098686-1)
	All Web Site Data

I believe the mob app property should have a different tracking no ID. I think you've done the right thing...

I'm having trouble with creating sandbox account. I have created an account, i don't get any data...
The step-by-step guide provided by google is kinda usless, is there someone who can help me out?

If you've created your sandbox account that's all you need to do.  As it's a made up website it won't show actual data which is fine as Google states you don't need actual data to carry on working through the units.
