Every other feature on Digipi works great. Tried laptop with Winlink Express, no response (soundmodem is new to me, I usually use VARA FM. VARA HF works fine). The Winlink server will sign me in using Radiomail on my iPad, but will take a minute or more between transmissions and then abruptly stop. I have worked through password and volume issues just to get this far, not sure what to try next. PAT works just fine.

I will attach some hopefully helpful screen shots :-)

Looks like an issue on the RF side. You didn't capture a full session, but what I see are rejected frames, many idle polls, and finally a disconnect likely due to one or more frames being retried too many times.
What is your hardware setup on both ends (radio, sound card interface, etc.)?

agreed on this, the stuff to look for is

RR = ready to receive (ie, waiting)
SABM = setup new connection. (SABME extended ax.25, lots of breakage here, paracon uses this)
REJ = start over a few packets ago

Also, I'm also tracking this protocol error in the kernel ax25 network stack, you might see
it on the other end of the conversation,

I very much appreciate both your feedback, including from Scott last night which I will paste below in case it might be helpful to others.

I have tried two different radios, and I just copied Craig’s Youtube video to make my little rig. I bought the cable from the same company as the AIOC billed as well shielded.

So while I do not understand much of ehat you both wrote, I do understand beefing up RF protection and optimizing radio settings, both of which I will try along with an external antenna.

Thanks again!!
