I am having an issue with my 705 staying connected to WSJTX programs

It disconnects even when not transmitting!

I have tried everything i can think of, even replaced the zero 2 w, cores on power and usb, tried using hotspot mode instead of network, different cables, different power sources, yada yada …

When it works, it works fantastic, for about 2-3 minutes

It has to be something simple, but I’m too frustrated to figure it out on my own, please help!

Hi Martin.  This is usually caused by RF entering the equation.  Try fitting ferrites to your cables, if you haven't already.

Good luck,

right, beads for sure, and what do you mean by disconnect?  wsjtx indicates "lost connection
with radio" or something similar?    Maybe try to set power to zero to see if you can replicate
the problem, if you can't then it's likely RF on the USB cable.  Click SysLog also, to see if
the kernel is complaining about USB failure, that's also a clue.

now it won't even get past the flrig startup screen and finish loading FT8...
i'm loading another SDcard... if that doesnt work I will need to walk away for awhile.

is there a way to get 1.9.2 back? i never had problems with that version or any others prior to that.

Found the issue/cause:

I had upgraded my 705 to USB-C
reinstalled original circuit board with micro-USB and no more drops!

Thank You for all of your help!

Was this issue with the IC-705 USB connection upgrade confirmed or corrected?  I'm not impressed with the micro-USB that Icom put in this radio, and I'm considering the USB-C upgrade. But not of course if it affects my use of the DigiPi (and who knows what else).  Has anyone other than 'skate....' encountered this?
