Hey! Was inspired by the $60 APRS video. Having some trouble getting to the demonstrated success in the video using:

digipi 2.0-1, raspberry pi zero 2w, a USB cable with two ferrite rings, Baofeng UV-5R, and N6AD AIOC

I'm able to connect to http://digipi (consistent) & start webchat, then connect to the webchat @ http://digipi:8055 (intermittent)

I can receive APRS messages sent from a separate radio (kv4p HT and phone) but I cannot for the life of me transmit back. I am new to APRS so might have some fundamental config messed up outside of the hardware. On digipi, I put my callsign in, select WIDE1-1, and send a message but the syslog (intermittent) shows:

Feb 07 01:04:58 digipi webchat.sh[1056]: 2026-02-07 01:04:58.533 | TX-[CALLSIGN]-6197     | ERROR    | [Errno 32] Broken pipe | aprsd.threads.tx:_send_direct:91
Feb 07 01:05:05 digipi webchat.sh[1056]: 2026-02-07 01:05:05.576 | TX-[CALLSIGN]-6196     | ERROR    | Failed to send packet:  -[CALLSIGN]>APZ100:: [CALLSIGN]    :[MESSAGE]{6196 | aprsd.threads.tx:_send_direct:90

I got the ferrite rings when the patreon/google group suggested it might be a RF power issue on the USB cable. The addition of the rings did not change these error codes.

Appreciate any help!

Hi Alex,

PktLog should tell you what's up.  I'm guessing direwolf dies due to RF on the USB cable, then
webchat tells us it's gone (broken pipe).  Just a guess tho, let us know what PktLog says please.
