I am testing AX.25 Node Network on frequency 145.010

I am sending a beacon
BEACON:AX25 BBS Node:DROSE K2LJL-10

How can I get this to show up on APRS.FI? Beacon on a different device on 144.390?

Hi  David,

AX.25 isn't aprs, so it's not reported on aprs.fi.  you can craft an aprs position packet
for your station and send it in via the internet however.  This is what DigiPi does
when you start "AX.25 Linux Node".  I implemented the process in direwolf.node.sh
if you want to take a look.

# advertise node on aprs.fi
while true;
do
{
sleep 10
echo "user KM6LYW-4 pass 12345 vers digipi 1.9-4"
sleep 2
# Please change longitude/latitude below if you uncomment this:
printf  "KM6LYW-4>WIDE1-1,TCPIP,WIDE1-1:!3853.80N/12056.15WBCOOL Node 145.050Mhz
http://craiger.org/bbs Play Zork!\r\n"
sleep 12
echo "^]"
echo "quit"
} | telnet 69.197.140.169 14580

sleep 1200
done

if it helps,
-craig

What format are you using for lat long? !3853.80N/12056.15W
Not sure how to convert to the format you have in the example.
Mine is  lat=35.575467 long=-82.535977

The latitude/longitude fields have their decimal point shifted two places to the right.

For example:

    38 degrees and 22.56 minutes North
    120 degrees and 19.15 minutes West

becomes:

    LAT  = "3822.56N"
    LONG = "12019.15W"

I uncommented and changed the lat long. I'm still not showing up on aprs.fi

Does anyone know where to look to see if I'm connecting successfully. Log file? or process of when it might show in PktLog?

# advertise node on aprs.fi
while true;
do
{
sleep 10
echo "user K2LJL-4 pass 14490 vers digipi 1.6"
sleep 2
## Please change longitude/latitude below if you uncomment this:
printf  "K2LJL-4>WIDE1-1,TCPIP,WIDE1-1:!3534.53N/8253.59WAX25 BBS Node:DROSE 145.010 K2LJL-10"

sleep 12
echo "^]"
echo "quit"
} | telnet 74.208.216.182 14580

# winlink advertisement
if [ -n "$WINLINKALSO" ]; then
  /usr/local/bin/rmsgw_aci  /etc/rmsgw/updatesysop.py
fi
sleep 1200
done

it looks like the aprsis host specified is down,

try substituting 74.208.216.182 with noam.aprs2.net

OK this worked! Thank you.

printf  "K2LJL-4>WIDE1-1,TCPIP,WIDE1-1:!3534.53N/08232.16WB#AX25 BBS Node:DROSE 145.010 K2LJL-10"

Interesting Note: the B, after W (west), puts BBB as the icon on aprs.fi (attached screenshot)

I'm advertising the callsign K2LJL-10 because I think that is what will be used to connect to my system using LinPac. I assume they use my Node name DROSE otherwise.

I will be getting another digipi setup tonight and I'll test how they connect to each other, since we don't have any in our area yet.

I think I'll switch to 145.050 or something else besides what the local WinLink servers are utilizing. I'll be on my own for awhile, but by advertising properly on APRS.FI I think digital saavy locals will at least know a BBS is up in the area. That's my goal for now.

I never knew this existed within Digipi. I was always using an old android phone with APRSDroid to beacon out my node.

Thanks for the instructions. Got mine working fine business as well!
