Is it possible to use the DigiPi offlie, with no Internet to send WinLink email and APRS packets?  My use case would be parking my vehicle where my radio would have RF connectivity to WinLink and APRS stations, but there is no cell service/Internet access.  From the parking lot, I’d have no issues.  However, when I leave the parking lot for a hike, I can’t connect to anything, but my car in the parking lot.  What I would like to do is via RF, send/receive email and APRS packets to my DigiPi connected radio, and have the radio in the parking lot forward them via RF on to the station it can connect with.  Is this possible?

Hi Randall, yup, I do this when I go fishin'.  No aprs (nor phone) coverage on the lake, but my truck is in range
of both my kayak and a regional digipeater/igate.  Works all day.  Reduce power to save your truck battery,
boot DigiPi into APRS Digipeater.  you can also configure direwolf.digipeater.conf to only repeat only your call
sign ("b"ud list filter), and save even more power.

DigiPi doesn't rely on Internet - it's a supplement, not really a dependency.  But just know you
need regional APRS infrastructure to make it work.

Craig and Group,

Can is set Digipi to be both an iGate and Digipeater at the same time?

The GUI doesn’t seem to allow them both to be enabled simultaneously.

Direwolf will support running both functions simultaneously.  I run this mode during the AT Golden Packet.

Thanks, Don.

Would I have to configure that in one of the .conf files?
