Hi All: For several months my DigiPi Zero 2W has been working fine getting WXBOT local WX reports. Now it just comes back with "Unable to find location for K1YPP"

If I hit he blue "locate" button, it comes back with:

4170.9km WNW 3 minutes ago

From my location I think it is looking for Craig's location, KM5LYW.

Here is some of the RAW data:

Any ideas about what I should look at?

Hi Dennis,

Please press [Send Beacon] to update your location in the APRSIS database which
is what WXBOT uses.

the [Locate] button displays the distance and bearing of the WXBOT station from
your station (based on your Initialize coordinates).

It's not obvious, comes up a bit.

thanks for the support,

I assume you mean the [Send Position] button. I've sent that a number of times and it seems to be sending the correct coordinates. This has been working fine for months and then just stopped.
So, when I hit the locate button, it tells me I am about 4000 KM from the WXBOT station, that seems odd?
The other thing I find puzzling is that the digipeater is set up as K1YPP-10, yet the messaging seems to go out as just K1YPP, is there a config file that needs to be changed?
Maybe I should just reburn the chip and try again?

No rush on any of this, it is a hobby after all.

[Send Position] will send your Initialize coordinates on RF.  If nothing hears you, you
wont be updated in the system and WXBOT wont find you.

[Locate] uses your Initialize position and WXBOT's position.  4000km is probably correct
since it's an internet/virtual radio.

APRS Webchat uses your base callsign (no ssid).

Winlink Server is -10

Digipeater/tnc is -2

send WXBOT your zip code, and it will send you you're weather

I gave up on troubleshooting this a few weeks ago. Today, it started working again. Weird. Now the weather forecasts are working again.

As for the WXBOT's position, am I to understand that it is getting the weather status from something 4000 km from here? Is there a website that describes how this works in more detail, it is very vague for me? I would think that [Locate] function would be to locate my position, but if I understand correctly, it is locating the WXBOT location?
Thanks de K1YPP

Hi Dennis,

The WebChat [locate] button tells you the distance and bearing of the station you're talking to,
in your case, WXBOT, which is a virtual radio on the Internet somewhere, which could be
thousands of miles away, or next door.

The WebChat [Send Position] button transmits your location (that you entered during Initialization),
you can momentarily see your lat/lon on the screen as it transmits.

if it helps,
