digip and axmail?

This may have been previously covered but I couldn't find anything.

Is there a way to setup axmail with the digipi? I know the digipi uses a read only filesystem by default which is problematic for axmail but I was thinking that maybe i could host axmail on another device on my network and link to it in to the uronode menu and that would allow local users to send mail to one another. Anyone ever done this?

I an trying to setup a local packet network in my region and I feel like mailboxes are a must have.
