Could I get the digipi to work with this display? it is connected directly to the GPIO pins. If not, I think it would be a great add to the screen list. Also, how do I access the command prompt. Thanks WB9BLA

got it to work. my next challenge will be to create a cable for the Baofeng UV-5RM. Does anyone know the correct pinout? I will be making the cable for the Toads DI board.

How did you get it to work?  I couldn't find much info on this display?

I haven't tested it fully. I'm still needing to make my cable for the Baofeng to the Toads DI. But I was able to get it to come up and say welcome to digipi. I just had to download the display driver from Argon. The website is www.argon40.com. Its a modular case called the POD for the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W.

Digipi uses the SPI interface for the display, so it's a bit of a dark art getting those other than the ones recommended by Craig to work.

However by the looks of the install script it is an ILI9431 type board, similar to this one, so you might be able to select that option at setup for it to work. Try not installing the driver files, as that may direct the video output via a different interface which may complicate things.

The PTT circuit requires external circuitry with a FET to work.  I simplified things and got the AOIC board for mine.  The TOADS board is very versatile but might be a bit of overkill for the Baofeng.

Interested to see if it works, as those boards are available on special here in VK.

Cheers,

yeah I was thinking so about the Toads DI. I will probably use it for something else. I have the AIOC ordered, just waiting for it to get here. As far as the display, I will probably reinstall digipi once I get the AIOC in and try the screen without installing the drivers.

Hi guys,

Yah, try the "ili9431" screen type on the Initialize page.  That's the chip it uses, but there's
no guarantee the python libraries will like it.   Do not use vendor-provided drivers for any
gpio displays.  DigiPi does not use the system console/x11/wayland, etc.

AIOC is probably the most simple interface for a 'feng.

cool,
-craig

(let us know on the Argon screen please!)

I took a stab at getting the Argon Pod display to work. After trying a number of different combinations, it just isn't recognized by DigiPi. Looking at the documentation, I believe Argon40 changed how some of the GPIO pins are used in order to add support for the four buttons and touch screen so it isn't a "true" ILI9431 anymore. The best I could get was what Brandon reported above. Using the vendor drivers will get you the "Welcome to DigiPi" Linux console screen on boot, but that becomes a frozen image as soon as DigiPi switches over to its own display configuration. I think the Argon Pod looks really cool, but at the end of the day it just isn't worth the hassle when a ST7789 is a fraction of the price and works right out of the box.
