You asked for it (in your install docs) so, I thought I'd share pix:
you may recall several weeks ago (May 19 I believe) I posted a message Subject line
Station deafness". Maybe not. Well, I put things down to do other stuff, went on vacation for 10 days, came back, plugged things in, and MAGIC, it all worked. Well, now it's running Digipeater mode with a vengeance and I'm sure I'll start back with my stream of stupid questions. But this time I'm going to read the docs...
so, since it's working, I thought I'd share pix of my setup:
That's it - a Baofeng AR-152 set on High power which pushes close to 10w. I picked up a battery eliminator so I can leave it plugged in which works great - no batteries to charge.
I don't always plug it into the weird "Solar Generator" but I bought it and wan too test it out. Not sure what to say about these things - batteries and ports: I do that in ammo cans all the time...
A Pi4 with a USB dongle. I usually power that off of mains too with the 110v->Cigar doohickee loose in the upper right..
Then the antenna feeds out to this guy which is performing great indoors as it's supposed to rain today, but I have a 2x2 I strap it to and a short length of LMR400 to stick it out the window most days.
It's a dandy little antenna! - just a cobra head and a couple chuncks of 10ga square brass jewelry wire trimmed to tune 144.39
and that's it. If you're driving around South Charlotte maybe it'll help you.
KJ0TEN-2 for now - one day I'll go back to my plan of mapping out all my APRS things, but I should learn more first.
