Hello, I just learned about Digipi and very interested. However, I am unsure how many of the modes / functions (like Winlink) I can use. That all depends on the traffic around me. I am in the Memphis, TN area. I do see some digipeaters around me and see some ham beaconing. Will modes like Winlink work if there are digipeaters around me? Or does Winlink operate on a different frequency? I only see one Winlink node near me and it is on HF. Right now I am only operating VHF.

Thanks!

That's a great question David, and a cool video idea :)

If you're not sure, just listen on a few key frequencies, for APRS that's 144.39Mhz, do
you hear modem sounds now and then?  like several per minute?  Then you have
aprs coverage.

For winlink/packet listen to these for a while,

   145.050
   145.730
   144.910
   145.630

Your area might have a VHF band-plan also which will list data frequencies and their
suggested modes/use.

Also checkout winlink.org (they have a map) and aprs.fi, which also shows aprs/packet/winlink maps.

Thanks. I'll monitor those frequencies and listen for activity. I haven't been active in ham radio for years and got the bug to get involved again. I stumbled across one of your setup videos and looks like a fun project! Thanks for your work putting all this together.

According to the SERA bandplan, the following frequencies are designated for packet and Vara FM:

That said, looking at the various resources online, it doesn't look like there are any packet systems running in the Memphis area. No V/UHF Winlink gateways are listed anywhere near that area. There is APRS activity on 144.390, but that looks like all you are going to find.
