Direwolf Symbols

Hello,

I'm wondering why my DigiPi is not showing up on the aprs.fi map? I see my DMR hotspot, black diamond with a D. Sometimes I see what looks like maybe a laptop with blue screen overlaying it.

Looking at direwolf.tnc.conf, it shows symbol="digi" overlay="R". Are these correct? Looking at Direwolf on github, that's not in the symbols listing.

Hi Thomas,

DigiPi's "APRS TNC/igate" reports to aprs.fi via the internet -- on wifi?  connected?

DigiPi's "APRS Digipeater" is strictly on RF, so another rig MUST hear you to show up on aprs.fi

DigiPi wont gate itself.


Not sure if that helps, but those are some related facts.

the laptop icon is your APRS Webchat beacon (can change it in DigiPi beta3)

Black Diamond R is "APRS TNC/igate"

Green Star 1 is "APRS Digipater"

Hi Craig,

I did not know one was internet connected and the other RF. Been using the internet b/c I'm not close enough to other nodes. I noticed I got not getting any activity using the Digipeater mode. I did put up a Diamond CP22E antenna and I definitely receive RF better but don't have enough power to TX using a 8W HT.

Yes, If connected to the internet. I'm using the TNC/gate (first slider). Didn't know about the webchat showing up as well. Been going crazy trying figure why it was there. Even re-imaged the pi, -).

So to use the Green Star for "APRS/Digipeater", change symbol="/"?? Some docs say put it between the lat and long. Hard to tell which is the most current set of docs.
