Connect to Nodes over the Internet

I continue to test in my local area and will talk with others about possible nodes via VHF. 

I was wondering if there are settings to beacon my node via the Internet and have a list of Nodes available via the Internet. Or is this just RF?

I'm referring to AX.25 Node Network

DigiPi will post your position to aprs.fi via the internet when you start "AX.25 Linux Node", it will
also send a beacon on RF.   see direwolf.node.sh for details.
