I was going along like gangbusters - during the day seeing traffic every 15-20 seconds, slowing considerably at night, which is understandable. Then Sunday night (that night I got the red screen of death, which I haven't returned to) it was dead, but I thought "oh, it's Sunday night"

Monday morning, fired up, and silence. Same Pi, same antenna, same radio, everything.

So, I thought, "Flash a new (old) card" - no prob - 30 minutes later I'm up with a virginal card. No sounds. Swapped some hardware around and restarted each time; no dice. Even built an open-air choke. I'm back to "Last know working setup" now.

Interestingly, I have another HT in the room with a decent whip antenna, and while I was hearing APRS squads on it last week with "good traffic" today it's silent.

Running 2.0-1
All I've changed is the passwd and added "PTT /dev/ttyUSB0 RTS" to .conf

Digipeater gets off the ground with:
Now connected to IGate server noam.aprs2.net (192.104.234.219)
   Check server status here http://192.104.234.219:14501

   [0L] KJ0TEN-2>APDW18,WIDE2-1:!b<j!!:'WX#  ! KJ0TEN WIDE1 DigiPi     http://digipi.org/<0x20>
   [ig] # aprsc 2.1.20-gdaa359f
   [ig] # logresp KJ0TEN-2 verified, server T2RDU

Launch WebChat and see:
Attached to KISS TCP client application 0 on port 8001 ...

Ready to accept KISS TCP client application 1 on port 8001 ...

Hit [Send Position] and I both see a TX light on my connected radio (a Feng AR52, a decent little 10w HT) and hear it on the monitoring HT on my desk.

Am I nuts? Did I forget something in setup. Could my ISP be blocking me? Could other local APRS gangs be ghosting me? :)
The thing that gets me is, I know I'm regionally challenged (though APRS.fi shows plenty going on within 5 miles), but I'm also not seeing any IG attempts. Nothing on the screen, nothing in the log.
This station (KJ0TEN-2) hasn't registered a Time since yesterday, so maybe that's why nothing's trafficking my way?

I see my Postion calls:
[0L] KJ0TEN>APZ100,WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1:@192002z3500.00N/08048.00WlDigiPi http://digipi.org/

and these, though I haven't had time to learn the hyroglyphics:
[0L] KJ0TEN-2>APDW18,WIDE2-1:!b<j!!:'WX#  ! KJ0TEN WIDE1 DigiPi http://digipi.org/<0x20>

I'll go drive around and try my APRSDroid (KJ0TEN-3)  phone through my UVPro (KJ0TEN-1) and see what shows and how far away...
Any tips are super appreciated :-)

Then I remembered, while reading through a persistent log in APRSDroid on a phone dedicated to HF, that the last time (yesterday)  this station (-2) had registered Time with the system was 10:38 or so when I'd tried the iGate instead of my usual Digipeater...

So, when I got home from errands, portable APRS squawking the whole drive, and hitting my home Pi (which had been left on in Digipeater mode) from a mile or two, including sending an SMS and getting weather for a CA town) I shut down the Digipeater and started up the iGate and POOF, time reported through APRS.FI is 18:38, or, now.

Just looking for clues.

Hi Joe

Sounds like your receive is messed up .
OK so how are you connected to teh radio?

I ask as I use a Baofeng 82HP with a home soldered AIOC connection. I had problems with reception and realized I had broken the solder connection to one of teh tabs. So could you physical interface to teh radio be an issue?

Also while I doubt this could you have any RFI with your PI?

Good luck and I look forward to reading a follow up.

Thanks Scott - that's actually the kind of thing I needed! "Why didn't I think of that?" :)

That said, this'll have to wait. I tried a good ol'
arecord -v -f cd -D hw:0,0 /dev/null
and got back:
arecord: set_params:1398: Channels count non available

so this is bigger than tonight's capacity.
thanks again!
/Joe
