Hello!

Just got my Digipi up and running this past weekend and have a few questions/issues. I'm using a Pi Zero, AIOC and a Baofeng DM32-UV.

My Digipi does receive packets. More so in Digipeater mode. In either case, it does not show up on the aprs.fi map except thru the iOS app. I have sent beacons and location thru WebChat. Just doesn't show up.

Should have stated, there are a few other Digipeaters in my area. Maybe they are too far. In the packet log, I can see the packets appear to come thru my Digipi but then, I'm not 100% certain how to read the log. Its seems the Digipi is being onery at the moment. It won't let me access the log to post a snippet.

Also, my display doesn't look like the display I've seen in the YT videos. Mine just shows lines of call signs. Also, haven't seen anything on the display when in TNC mode other than it being in TNC mode. Maybe the folks in my area are in Digipeater mode, IDK.

Any way, my are is EM93 if you want to see on the aprs.fi map.

Thanks!!

Looks like N4OOJ sent a packet. Also, not sure who needs to increase the audio. I checked mine and it was set to 100. I reduced it to 50

Hi Thomas - great info there.

I suspect you've got a bad audio connection, either the ground or audio lines.

You're assertion is correct, you're not making it to aprs.fi on RF (confirmed),
https://aprs.fi/?c=raw&call=KR4LAI-2 (all via TCPIP).

You received one packet, with no volume (knob turned up on the rig?), and
forward error correction got it wrong, packet corrupted.

ignore [ig>tx] lines.

You want to see lines with "audio level" in them, with level between 20 and 80.

... and let us know, thanks,
-craig

Hi Craig,

The volume knob on the radio maybe be turned up a little less than halfway.  I've noticed today after turning down the volume with alsa, there hasn't been much traffic. Maybe I should bump that back up a bit.

When you say I may have a ground issue with the audio line, I guess you mean with the AIOC. Very possible. My solder skills and eyesight aren't the greatest. The side with the two pads is probably alright. The other side that has 4 pads could be where a issue may be. Those are really close together.

I also replaced the USB C to micro USB yesterday for what I though was a better cable. I don't think the first one was shielded. I had 6 ferrites on it. I could barley get WiFi 10 feet away. The new cable allowed the pi to connect easily with 2 ferrites.

I'll check the solding on the AIOC and get back.

Thanks,
KR4LAI

Still can't figure what's wrong. I'm thinking the mobile antenna I'm using on a pizza pan on my deck just isn't getting out enough or other Digipeaters aren't within range. I'll look into a better VHF antenna like the Comet. I did check the AIOC soldering. I can see green between the pads so I think that part is OK. I can program the radio(s) with it plugged in.
