I asked yesterday question about Direwolf connections and issues with slider bars from the Digipi UI. I have also an instant answer and it was to not use safari on my Mac and move to Chrome. That worked. I also asked if my Direwolf conf was OK. It was.  So thank you.

Now I have the Pi Zero 2W + Digipi image + KJ4ZZB-2 + external power + GPS receiver (working) + USB C cable to AIOC to Baofeng 82. The red and green LEDs are on as expected on the  AIOC. The Baofeng is on 144.390, squelch off, Audio about 50% on the volume control. I have another radio also tuned to 144.390 at K9YRO connected by USB to a PC running PinPointAPRS so I can see text messages. That fine . To test my digipi I enabled WebChat and tried to send a SMS from Kj4ZZb-2 to K9YRO. The Baofeng 82 was NOT triggered. From syslog I see this

Apr 25 13:32:09 digipi webchat.sh[1127]: 2026-04-25 13:32:09.495 | TX-K9YRO-2269      | ERROR    | Failed to send packet: KJ4ZZB>APZ100::K9YRO    :test{2269 | aprsd.threads.tx:_send_direct:90
Apr 25 13:32:09 digipi webchat.sh[1127]: 2026-04-25 13:32:09.506 | TX-K9YRO-2269      | ERROR    | [Errno 32] Broken pipe | aprsd.threads.tx:_send_direct:91

To me this indicate the AIOC radio is not hitting the Digipi. I did change the AIOC connector to another on I have and that makes no difference.

I do see teh aioc with record -l

pi@digipi:~ $ arecord -l
**** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices ****
card 1: AllInOneCable [All-In-One-Cable], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks Scott Sheppard KJ4ZZB

Hi Scott - great test!

It looks like the TNC was restarted while WebChat was running.

If you restart the APRS TNC/igate, you must also restart APRS WebChat.

Also make sure you don't replug the usb cable, if you do, reboot.

This will be fixed in future releases.

cool,

Thank you Craig for the comment.

I have verified that APRS/TNC and Web Chat sliders are green. This following a reboot and re-enabling these sliders. I started WebChat and tried to sent a packet to K9YRO listening on 144.390. On the receiving radio I did hear a break in squelch like there was a a transmission attempting to start but no other shouts. After a few second this stopped. When I tried again to hit send in wb chat there was no break in squelch. So I assume the Digipi is still trying to get joy with the first transmission. Again the logs show

pr 25 14:38:03 digipi webchat.sh[1094]: 2026-04-25 14:38:03.904 | TX-K9YRO-8543      | ERROR    | Failed to send packet: KJ4ZZB>APZ100::K9YRO    :Test{8543 | aprsd.threads.tx:_send_direct:90
Apr 25 14:38:03 digipi webchat.sh[1094]: 2026-04-25 14:38:03.912 | TX-K9YRO-8543      | ERROR    | [Errno 32] Broken pipe | aprsd.threads.tx:_send_direct:91
Apr 25 14:38:34 digipi webchat.sh[1094]: 2026-04-25 14:38:34.571 | TX-K9YRO-8544      | ERROR    | Failed to send packet: KJ4ZZB>APZ100::K9YRO    :test{8544 | aprsd.threads.tx:_send_direct:90
Apr 25 14:38:34 digipi webchat.sh[1094]: 2026-04-25 14:38:34.577 | TX-K9YRO-8544      | ERROR    | [Errno 32] Broken pipe | aprsd.threads.tx:_send_direct:91

The sliders are still green for APRSTNC/Igate and APRS WebChat.  (I am unable to post a screenshot shot here)
What I am trying to do with WebChat is verify the Pi to Radio path is functioning. Then do other stuff.

I think I am technically literate but since I did not write and config the digit application I need to ask silly questions on the forum. I regret asking foolish questions  Thanks Scott Sheppard

okay, let's look at "PktLog" and "SysLog" -- I suspect RF is killing the
audio device.
PktLog will show the status of the TNC(direwolf).  It will complain
first if RF killed
something.
