Then the email server should be disabled by default. During initialization, ask if the user wants to enable the email server, and if the answer is yes, prompt for the required information.
Most uses who have enabled it do not realize they need to edit the gateway configuration files (why would they, there is no indication) and therefore corrupt their Winlink accounts. There has to be some warning or lock here.
You have one user right now who went through the process to get gateway authorization, and fired up the server without configuring the files. He is not comfortable working in the CLI and doesn't know how to edit files. You could say he then shouldn't be using the feature, but is that really the right solution?
Don't get me wrong, I like having this feature, but the implementation as it stands is not correct IMHO.
